Devotional Day 1: casting your care on him.

Updated: Oct 19

Title: Casting Your Cares Upon Him

Verse: 1 Peter 5:7 - "Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you."

Dear Gorgeous,

Like some of you, I get anxious at times. I am anxious over things I have no control over, and I must constantly remind myself that the only person I can control is myself and my emotions.

As a young child growing up in Jamaica, I remember seeing this clay plaque hanging on my wall. It had a picture of Jesus with His hands clasped and the following scriptures: "Cast all your anxieties (burdens) on Him because He cares for you."

That Scripture has been imprinted on my mind since I was ten years old, and every time I read it, I am taken back to my childhood and the comfort and confidence I felt when I read it. Today, I encourage you to cast your burdens and anxieties at Jesus's feet because He genuinely cares for you.

In today’s world, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. Women juggle many roles - wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Amidst all these responsibilities, we often find ourselves weighed down by the anxieties and challenges that come our way.

Today's verse, 1 Peter 5:7, powerfully reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles. Our Heavenly Father loves us deeply and is always there to help us carry our burdens. Jesus invites us to cast all our cares upon Him because He genuinely cares for us.

Women often feel compelled to be strong, care for others, and shoulder all our burdens. But God wants us to know that we don't have to carry everything alone. Our Lord Jesus Christ has already taken our heaviest burdens upon Himself on the cross, and He longs to share in our day-to-day struggles.

In moments of doubt, fear, or worry, let us pause and remember that our Savior is waiting with open arms, ready to help us with our burdens. We must learn to surrender our anxieties to Him and trust that He will provide the strength and guidance we need to face any challenge.

So, how do we cast our cares upon Jesus? It begins with a simple act of faith. Pray to the Lord, share your heart with Him, and trust He is listening. Acknowledge your limitations and ask Him for the wisdom and strength to navigate your struggles. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in your decisions and actions.

As you grow in your relationship with Christ, releasing your burdens to Him will become easier. You will experience the peace that comes from trusting in His love and care for you.

Remember, the Lord does not promise to take away our problems, but He does promise to walk us through them. Let us meditate on the beautiful words of Psalm 55:22, which echo the same sentiment:

"Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved."

Beloved sister in Christ, you are never alone. Jesus is always with you, ready to carry your burdens and fill you with His peace. Embrace His love and allow Him to be your strength in times of trouble.

Reflection: What burdens are you carrying today? How can you actively cast your cares upon Jesus and trust His loving care for you?

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for Your unfailing love and care for me. I surrender my worries and anxieties to You. Help me trust in Your promises and experience Your peace as I cast my cares upon You. Guide me through my struggles and strengthen my faith in You. Amen.
