Day 10:
Come All Who Are Weary
Verse: Matthew 11:28 - “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Have you ever stopped to think about who you're talking to when you pray? We often forget the incredible truth that we are speaking directly to the Creator of the universe—the One who made the stars, the oceans, and the very breath in our lungs. Imagine being given the chance to speak to a world leader—how would you prepare? You would probably feel nervous, thinking carefully about what to say, how to present yourself, and how to make the most of every second. The anticipation alone might keep you up at night!
But here's something even more awe-inspiring: The God who created all world leaders, all nations, and all creation invites you to come directly to Him. No particular protocols, no formal attire required, and no need for bodyguards to stand between you. His Son, Jesus, took care of all that, giving us direct access to the Father through His sacrifice on the cross.
Unlike worldly leaders with limited time or patience, God is always ready to listen. He doesn't demand pomp and circumstance. Instead, He invites us, especially when we're weary, broken, and burdened, to simply come—to come with our wounds, doubts, anxieties, and pain. He knows how to handle brokenness—He specializes in it.
It is a privilege to approach Him without hesitation, no matter what we’re going through. God doesn’t require us to be polished, perfect, or ready with the right words. He calls us to bring our tired, worn-out selves into His presence, where He promises rest and peace.
When we come to Him, we’re not just talking to a powerful being in the sky—we are connecting with our loving Father who knows every tear we've shed, every burden we carry, and every fear we face. And He’s not only able to lift those burdens but promises to give us rest for our souls. The world might provide temporary relief, but only Jesus offers the true rest that renews our hearts and minds.
Reflection:
· How do you approach God in prayer? Do you come with an understanding of who He truly is and how deeply He cares for you?
· Are you carrying any burdens you haven’t brought to Him today? What’s stopping you from laying them down at His feet?
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I am in awe of the open invitation You’ve given me to come to You, just as I am. Forgive me for the times I’ve forgotten the incredible privilege of speaking to You. Thank You for not requiring perfection from me but instead calling me in my brokenness. Today, I come to You with all of my weariness, knowing You can provide the rest I need. Help me to trust in Your care and release my burdens into Your capable hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
